Friday, June 29th, I started a low-carb, medically-supervised diet. The day was off to a good start with two vegetarian sausages and a mid-morning snack of low-fat cheddar cheese. I proudly drank my lunch--two scoops of protein powder in almond milk.
Later that afternoon, I was reading Michael Chabon's Wonder Boys. You know that scene where he describes a Passover meal? Well, all of the sudden, the carb-deprived me started craving . . . matzah. For the first time in my life!
